2100cc Waterboxer Piston Ring Set - 94mm Bore

This complete piston ring set is designed for 2.1 Waterboxer (WBX) engines fitted to VW Type 25 / T3 buses using 94mm pistons. Supplied as a full set of 12 rings, it provides everything required to re-ring all four pistons, restoring compression, oil control, and overall engine efficiency.

Ideal for top-end refreshes or full engine rebuilds, this kit ensures correct ring sizing and thickness for standard 2.1 WBX applications.

What this piston ring set does (and why it matters)

Piston rings play a critical role in engine performance and longevity. As engines age, worn or tired rings lead to:

• Low compression and loss of power

• Excessive oil consumption

• Blow-by gases contaminating engine oil

• Poor cold starting

Replacing piston rings restores the sealing between the pistons and cylinder walls, allowing the engine to run cleaner, smoother, and more efficiently.

How it works

Each piston uses three rings:

• Top compression ring (1.75mm): Seals combustion pressure in the cylinder

• Second compression ring (2.0mm): Assists sealing and controls blow-by

• Oil control ring (3.5mm): Regulates oil on the cylinder wall

Together, these rings ensure proper combustion sealing, oil control, and heat transfer from the piston into the cylinder barrel.
