Type 25 Metal Water Pipe - Water Pump To Right Cylinder Head (Elbow) - 1983-92

This stainless steel coolant pipe elbow is a premium replacement for the original steel or plastic elbow fitted to the right-hand side of the engine block (driver’s side on RHD models) on VW Type 25 (T25) Waterboxer engines. It bolts directly to the engine block and routes coolant toward the water pump, forming a crucial link in the engine’s primary coolant circulation path.

As coolant leaves the engine block, this elbow channels flow efficiently into the water pump, allowing coolant to be circulated through the engine, radiator, and thermostat system. Because it operates at a low point in the cooling circuit and is exposed to heat, moisture, and road grime, the original pipe is prone to corrosion, pitting, and eventual leaks. Failure at this point can result in rapid coolant loss and overheating.

How it works

Coolant exits the right side of the engine block and flows through this elbow directly into the water pump. From there, it is circulated throughout the cooling system to regulate engine temperature.
