Extra Thick Inner Oil Pump Gasket

This extra thick 0.30mm oil pump gasket fits between the oil pump body and the crankcase on all Volkswagen aircooled and Waterboxer engines, and is a simple but highly effective upgrade for engines that suffer from oil seepage around the oil pump.

Originally, Volkswagen specified this thicker gasket for Type 25 / T3 buses fitted with both aircooled and Waterboxer engines, as these vehicles were more prone to oil leaks due to sustained running temperatures and crankcase movement. At 0.30mm thick, this gasket is twice the thickness of the earlier 0.15mm gaskets originally fitted to many Beetle, Baywindow, and Karmann Ghia engines.

Over time, VW retrospectively approved this thicker gasket for use across earlier aircooled engines, replacing the thinner 111115111B gasket. The additional thickness allows for improved sealing between the oil pump and crankcase, compensating for minor surface imperfections, wear, or distortion that commonly develop in older engines.

What this gasket does and how it works

The oil pump gasket forms a critical seal that:

• Prevents oil escaping externally around the oil pump body

• Ensures correct oil pressure by stopping internal oil bypass

• Maintains correct oil pump end float when fitted correctly

By increasing gasket thickness, this version can often eliminate persistent oil leaks that remain even after replacing the pump or resealing with standard gaskets—making it a popular choice during engine rebuilds or when chasing long-standing oil leaks.
