Rocker Shaft Spring Clip - Type 1 Engines

This rocker shaft spring clip is fitted to the end of each standard rocker shaft on aircooled Volkswagen engines from 1200cc to 1600cc. Its primary function is to retain and secure the rocker shaft assembly, preventing the rocker arms, spacers, and thrust washers from sliding off the shaft during engine operation.

Although small, this clip plays a critical role in maintaining correct valve train alignment. By locking the rocker shaft components in position, it ensures the rocker arms operate smoothly and consistently, helping to prevent excessive side movement, uneven valve actuation, or catastrophic disassembly of the rocker gear. Missing or weakened clips can lead to serious engine damage if components migrate along the shaft.

This reproduction spring clip is manufactured to match the original shape and tension, providing a reliable hold under constant vibration, heat cycles, and oil exposure.
