Rocker Shaft Thrust Washer - Type 1 Engines - 18mm ID

This rocker shaft thrust washer is designed for use on all aircooled Volkswagen engines from 1200cc to 1600cc. It is fitted directly onto the rocker shaft, positioned between the rocker arms and the spacers, and is used to correctly set and control the axial thrust (side play) of the rocker assembly.

Correct rocker shaft thrust is essential for smooth and reliable valve train operation. These washers prevent excessive side movement of the rocker arms, helping maintain proper alignment on the valve stems and pushrods. By reducing friction and unwanted lateral load, they contribute to quieter operation, reduced wear, and longer service life of rocker arms, shafts, and cylinder head components.

Each washer features an 18mm internal diameter, allowing it to slide precisely onto the rocker shaft while providing a durable bearing surface. During engine assembly or rebuilds, these washers are used to fine-tune rocker shaft end float, ensuring the rocker arms move freely without binding or excessive play.

Manufactured from durable materials suitable for constant oil exposure and repeated heat cycles, this thrust washer is an essential but often overlooked component in both engine restorations and routine maintenance.
