Waterboxer Cylinder Head Liner Gasket

This barrel liner gasket fits to the top of each cylinder barrel (liner) on Volkswagen Waterboxer petrol engines with 1900cc and 2100cc capacities, as used in Type 25 / T3 Transporters. It is an essential sealing component when refitting cylinder heads, helping to maintain correct sealing between the liner and the cylinder head.

What this part does

The barrel liner gasket provides a precise sealing surface at the top of the cylinder liner, preventing coolant and combustion pressure leaks on Waterboxer engines. Over time, these gaskets can compress, harden, or deteriorate, leading to coolant loss, head sealing issues, or overheating.

How it works

Positioned on top of each barrel, the gasket is compressed when the cylinder head is torqued down. Its accurately controlled thickness ensures correct crush, helping maintain proper head sealing while accommodating thermal expansion during engine operation.
