This standard exhaust valve is a high-quality reproduction designed for Volkswagen Type 4 air-cooled engines with 1700cc, 1800cc, and 2000cc capacities, as fitted to Baywindow Buses and aircooled Type 25 (T3) Buses. Manufactured by IVAM in Italy, it is built to original specifications, making it an ideal choice for stock engine rebuilds and reliable long-term use.

Important note:
Not suitable for 1800cc engines with AW engine code

What this part does

The exhaust valve controls the release of burnt gases from the combustion chamber after ignition. Operating in extremely high-temperature conditions, it plays a critical role in maintaining correct engine breathing, compression, and thermal stability. A worn or damaged exhaust valve can lead to power loss, overheating, misfires, and poor engine efficiency.

How it works

During the exhaust stroke, the camshaft opens the exhaust valve, allowing spent gases to exit the cylinder head and flow into the exhaust system. Once closed, the valve must seal perfectly against the valve seat to prevent hot gas leakage. This valve features a 33mm head, optimised for standard 1700cc–2000cc Type 4 engines, and a 9mm stem to match original valve guides, ensuring correct fitment and dependable sealing.
