Fuel Pump Flange - Type 4 Engines

This replacement fuel pump flange is fitted between the mechanical (manual) fuel pump and the crankcase on Volkswagen Type 4 aircooled engines with capacities of 1700cc, 1800cc, and 2000cc. It is used on carburetted engines fitted to Baywindow Buses and early Type 25 (T3) Buses up to 1983.

The flange serves two important functions. First, it correctly spaces and supports the mechanical fuel pump, ensuring the pump pushrod operates at the correct height and stroke. Second, it provides a stable mounting surface and sealing point between the pump and the engine case.

This flange is not used on fuel-injected engines, as those systems do not use a mechanical fuel pump driven by the engine.

Over time, original fuel pump flanges can become damaged, warped, or lost during previous engine work. An incorrect or missing flange can cause fuel delivery issues, oil leaks, or premature wear of the fuel pump and pushrod. Replacing the flange restores the correct factory geometry and helps ensure reliable fuel pump operation.
