T4,T5 Thermostat Housing Gasket - VR6 (AEX,AMV,BDL,BKK)

This sealing gasket is fitted between the thermostat housing and the cylinder block on Volkswagen VR6 engines. It is used on both T4 and T5 Transporters fitted with 2.8 and 3.2 litre VR6 engines, as well as a wide range of VR6-powered Volkswagen passenger models.

The gasket’s role is to create a watertight seal between the thermostat housing and the engine block, preventing coolant leaks while allowing the cooling system to operate at the correct pressure. As coolant temperature changes, the thermostat housing is exposed to repeated heat cycles, which can cause the sealing gasket to compress, harden, or deteriorate over time.

A failed or reused gasket can result in coolant seepage around the thermostat housing, leading to coolant loss, poor temperature control, and in severe cases, engine overheating. For this reason, the gasket should always be replaced whenever the thermostat housing is removed, whether for thermostat replacement or cooling system repairs.
