T1,T2,G1 Silicone Oil Cooler Seal - Type 1 Twinport, Type 4, 1.6 (EC,EG), 1.8 (DX)

This silicone oil cooler seal is a premium upgrade designed to provide superior sealing and durability between the oil cooler and engine case on a wide range of Volkswagen air-cooled engines. It is suitable for late single-port and all twin-port Type 1 engines (1300cc–1600cc), as well as all 1700cc, 1800cc, and 2000cc Type 4 “pancake” engines fitted to Baywindow Buses and air-cooled Type 25 (T3) Buses.

Unlike traditional rubber seals, this version is manufactured from high-quality silicone, offering excellent resistance to heat, oil, and compression set. Silicone seals maintain their shape and elasticity for far longer, making them ideal for engines that run hotter, are driven regularly, or where long-term reliability is a priority.

The oil cooler seal is critical for maintaining correct oil pressure and cooling efficiency. A failed or hardened seal can result in oil leaks, pressure loss, and reduced cooling performance. Upgrading to silicone helps ensure a consistent, leak-free seal even under demanding operating conditions.

This seal is also compatible with Mk1 Golf GTI engines (1.6 EC/EG and 1.8 DX), some late single-port engines, and many other VW applications, making it a versatile and dependable choice for both standard and upgraded builds.


Quantity Requirements

  • Late single-port Type 1 engines: 2 seals required

  • Type 4 engines (1700–2000cc): 2 seals required

  • Twin-port Type 1 engines: 4 seals required
