Type 4 Engine - Lower Tinware - Left

This lower engine tinware panel is designed for the left-hand side of all Volkswagen Type 4 engines. Engine tinware plays a critical role in directing cooling air correctly around the cylinders and heads, ensuring stable operating temperatures and preventing hot air from being recirculated back into the cooling system.

The lower tinware fits beneath the engine and helps seal the underside, working together with the rest of the cooling shrouds and deflector plates. Missing, damaged, or incorrect tinware can significantly reduce cooling efficiency, leading to overheating, reduced engine life, and poor overall performance—especially important on air-cooled Type 4 engines used in heavier vehicles such as Buses.

This panel is manufactured as a direct replacement, shaped to original specifications for correct fitment on the left-hand side (passenger side on RHD vehicles) of the engine. It is ideal for engine rebuilds, restorations, or replacing rusty or missing original tinware.

  • Right-hand side lower tinware is also available
