This replacement valve spring is designed for all Volkswagen Type 4 air-cooled engines in 1700cc, 1800cc, and 2000cc configurations, as fitted to Baywindow Buses and air-cooled Type 25 (T3) Buses. It is a direct replacement for the original valve springs and is suitable for both inlet and exhaust valve positions on standard engines.
The valve spring’s function is to close the valve after it has been opened by the camshaft and keep it seated firmly against the valve seat during engine operation. Correct spring tension is essential for maintaining accurate valve timing, preventing valve float at higher engine speeds, and ensuring reliable compression. Weak or broken valve springs can cause poor engine performance, misfiring, loss of power, and potential internal engine damage.
Manufactured to meet original specifications, this valve spring provides the correct balance of tension and durability for standard Type 4 engines. It is ideal for cylinder head rebuilds, valve train servicing, or replacement of fatigued original springs during engine maintenance.
These valve springs are sold individually, with eight required per engine.
