This second timing chain is designed for Volkswagen VR6 engines fitted to T4 Transporters, Golf Mk3, Corrado, and related models. It is specifically the upper (secondary) timing chain, which links the two upper camshaft sprockets to the intermediate sprocket driven by the primary chain from the crankshaft.

In the VR6 timing system, accurate synchronisation between the crankshaft and camshafts relies on both timing chains working together. This upper chain plays a vital role in ensuring correct valve timing and smooth engine operation.
