This connecting rod small end bush set is designed for all Volkswagen Type 4 engines in 1700cc, 1800cc, and 2000cc form, as fitted to Baywindow Buses, air-cooled Type 25 (T3) Buses, and Porsche 914 models. These bushes support the gudgeon (wrist) pins, allowing smooth articulation between the pistons and connecting rods while maintaining correct alignment under load.

The small end bush provides a precision bearing surface and is essential for reducing friction and wear in the upper end of the connecting rod. Worn bushes can cause piston slap, increased noise, accelerated wear to pistons and pins, and reduced engine life. Replacement is strongly recommended during any full engine rebuild or when reconditioning connecting rods.

Manufactured by MAHLE in Brazil, these bushes are produced to OEM-quality standards using high-grade bearing materials for durability and consistent performance. They are supplied unfinished internally and must be reamed or honed to final size after installation to suit your specific connecting rods. The oil feed holes must also be drilled during fitting to align with the original conrod oiling passages.

Supplied as a complete set of four, this kit is sufficient for one full Type 4 engine.
