Flywheel Bolt Washer - Type 4 Engines

This replacement flywheel bolt washer fits over the end of the crankshaft and sits between the flywheel and the five flywheel retaining bolts on Volkswagen Type 4 engines. It is a critical but often overlooked component that ensures even load distribution when the flywheel is tightened to the crankshaft.

The washer helps spread the clamping force of the flywheel bolts evenly across the flywheel face, reducing the risk of bolt loosening, fretting, or damage to the flywheel and crankshaft mating surfaces. A worn, distorted, or missing washer can lead to incorrect bolt torque readings and, in severe cases, flywheel movement or crankshaft damage.

This washer is suitable for all Baywindow Buses fitted with 1700cc, 1800cc, and 2000cc Type 4 air-cooled engines, as well as early Type 25 (T3) Buses fitted with the 2000cc air-cooled engine. It is also compatible with Porsche 912E and 914 models using Type 4 engines.

Ideal for engine rebuilds, clutch replacements, or flywheel removal and refitting, this washer should always be inspected and replaced if there is any sign of wear or distortion.
