Beetle Gearbox Strap Kit With Padding (Rear Only)

Heavy-duty rear gearbox support strap kit designed to strengthen the transmission mounting system on aircooled Volkswagen models up to 1972. This EMPI rear support kit combines reinforced gearbox retention with rubber padded straps, allowing the continued use of standard gearbox mounts while adding extra support to the transmission and frame horns during hard acceleration and aggressive driving.

The kit helps reduce gearbox movement and wheel hop by bracing the transmission assembly more securely to the chassis. Unlike solid steel strap kits, these padded versions feature special rubber extrusion on the metal straps to help minimise vibration and drivetrain noise, giving improved strength without excessive harshness inside the vehicle.

Supplied with a heavy-duty rear cradle, this bolt-on system requires no welding, making it a popular upgrade for fast road Beetles, street racers, off-road cars and performance aircooled VW applications. Ideal for vehicles running uprated engines, heavy-duty clutches or spirited driving styles where the original transmission mounts and frame horns can flex under load.

The rear support straps help protect the frame horns and reduce stress on the gearbox mounts while still maintaining some vibration isolation from the original rubber mounting system.
