1641cc Barrel And Piston Kit - 87mm Bore Type 1 Engines - Mahle Forged Pistons

High performance Mahle 1641cc barrel and piston kit featuring forged pistons for increased strength and durability in demanding aircooled VW engine applications. Designed as a slip-in upgrade for Type 1 based 1300cc–1600cc engines, this kit uses 87mm pistons with the standard 69mm crankshaft to increase engine capacity to 1641cc while retaining standard case dimensions.

Mahle forged pistons are considerably stronger than standard cast pistons, making this kit ideal for performance engines, higher compression builds, spirited driving, and engines running dual carburettors or upgraded exhaust systems. Forged pistons are more resistant to cracking, detonation, and high heat conditions, making them particularly suitable for hard road use and mild competition engines.

The 87mm cylinders are manufactured to slip directly into standard 1500cc and 1600cc crankcases without machining. When fitting to original 1300cc cylinder heads, machining of the cylinder head openings is required to accept the larger barrel diameter.

This complete Mahle kit includes matched cylinders, forged pistons, gudgeon pins, retaining clips, and piston rings, providing a premium quality top-end upgrade for aircooled VW engines.
