1641cc Barrel And Piston Kit - 87mm Bore Type 1 Engines - Mahle Cast Pistons

Upgrade your aircooled VW engine to 1641cc with this premium quality Mahle barrel and piston kit, designed as an easy slip-in upgrade for Type 1 based 1300cc–1600cc engines. Using 87mm pistons with the standard 69mm crankshaft found in all Type 1 1300cc, 1500cc and 1600cc engines, this kit increases engine capacity to 1641cc for improved torque, flexibility, and overall performance.

Manufactured by Mahle, one of the most respected names in aircooled engine components, this kit features high quality cast aluminium pistons and precision machined cylinders for excellent durability, heat control, and long service life. The 87mm cylinders retain the standard crankcase register size, making them a direct slip-in fit to most 1500cc and 1600cc engine cases without machining.

When fitting to original 1300cc twin port or single port cylinder heads, the cylinder head openings must be machined to accept the larger 87mm barrels. This makes the kit a popular upgrade during engine rebuilds where additional performance is desired without moving to a fully machined big bore engine combination.

The complete set includes everything required for installation including pistons, barrels, gudgeon pins, clips, and piston rings.
