90.5mm + 92mm Barrel Spacer Kit (0.090" Thick) - Type 1 Engines

Cylinder base shim set for aircooled VW Type 1 engines fitted with 90.5mm or 92mm cylinders and pistons.

These precision-engineered shims fit between the cylinder barrel and crankcase to increase deck height and alter engine compression ratio during assembly. Increasing the cylinder spacing increases combustion chamber volume, helping reduce compression and providing the piston-to-head clearance required on larger displacement and stroker engine builds.

Cylinder base shims are commonly used on 1776cc, 1835cc and custom stroker Type 1 engines where substantial deck height correction is needed. They are also ideal for compensating for flycut cylinder heads, crankshaft stroke increases and other machining modifications during engine blueprinting.

Designed for use with 90.5mm and 92mm barrels commonly fitted to performance Type 1 engines.

Manufactured to 0.090″ thickness (2.286mm), making them suitable for major deck height and compression ratio adjustments.

Sold as a set of 4, enough for one complete engine.

We recommend carefully measuring deck height and calculating final compression ratio before final engine assembly. Always ensure cylinder seating surfaces are clean and flat during installation.
