24 Plate Mesa Oil Cooler Kit

EMPI 24 plate Mesa external oil cooler kit for VW Type 1 aircooled engines. Designed to improve oil cooling efficiency and maintain stable oil temperatures on performance, off-road and heavily loaded engines.

The Mesa-cool multiple flow path design provides highly efficient oil cooling with reduced pressure loss compared to conventional cooler designs. This helps cool the engine oil quickly while maintaining the oil pressure required to properly lubricate bearings, camshafts and other vital engine components.

Manufactured from aerospace quality aluminium with fluxless oven-brazed construction, the cooler is highly resistant to vibration, corrosion and cracking. Its compact slimline design makes it ideal for installations where space is limited while still offering substantial additional cooling capacity.

This kit includes a 24 plate Mesa oil cooler, remote screw-on oil filter head, oil cooler bypass/block-off adaptor, oil hoses and fittings required for installation. The supplied adaptor replaces the standard oil cooler location and routes oil through the external cooling system.

For standard Beetles and Buses, we recommend retaining the factory doghouse oil cooler and using this external cooler as an additional cooling system with a proper full flow oil setup. The supplied bypass adaptor is particularly well suited to beach buggies, trikes and custom applications where the original cooling arrangement may not be retained.

Ideal for fast road engines, larger displacement builds, off-road vehicles and engines operating in warmer climates.
