Baywindow Bus Engine Case Adapter - Type 1 Engines

Crankcase adaptor kit designed to allow fitment of a Type 1 (Beetle) engine into vehicles that require rear engine support mounting points, such as T2 Bay Window buses and Type 3 models. This kit solves the common issue where later engines or replacement crankcases do not have the factory mounting bosses for the rear engine support bar.

The adaptor plate bolts directly onto the oil pump housing, replacing the standard oil pump cover with a specially designed plate that incorporates mounting points for the rear engine support bar. This effectively recreates the original mounting system, allowing a Type 1 engine to be securely installed in applications that rely on rear support.

On Bay Window buses and Type 3 models, the engine is supported at the rear by a crossbar. Without these mounting points, the engine cannot be properly secured. This adaptor ensures correct engine positioning, alignment, and load distribution, preventing stress on the gearbox and mounting system.

The kit is designed for 8mm oil pump studs and is supplied complete with a replacement oil pump cover and all necessary mounting hardware for installation. It is ideal for engine conversions, replacement engines, or when using universal or aftermarket crankcases without the required mounting bosses.

Installation is straightforward but requires removal of the oil pump cover. It is recommended to check oil pump condition and gaskets during fitting, and ensure correct torque settings to maintain proper oil sealing.
